[She hears it, initially, when soothing the feelings of some kind of Karen or another. One of the crazy ones that mouths off to monsters or whatever, so it's at least a couple of minutes before she's able to meet up with Maya.
[She takes a look back at the worker manning the register, before shrugging and giving them a sheepish smile. The human should be fine, she's used to Makoto leaving from time to time and she's been concerned about her lately anyway, so...
You know, she won't be too upset if Makoto leaves.]
In less than a week! I'm gonna be 20 finally... ah, it feels like it's taken forever to get here.
[She's bouncing a little, too. A bounce that hasn't quite been in her step for awhile. Just, this feels good and normal and like nothing terrible has happened lately for once even if it kind of has but YOU KNOW WHAT no one's died.]
[Throwing her arm around Makoto's shoulders and squeezing her close in a way she knows damn well makes it hard to walk, Maya tugs obnoxiously on Makoto like a teasing older sister.]
My sweet, little, tiny baby Makoto's finally growing up!
[A dramatic huff, but she doesn't seem upset or anything. More playful than anything else. There's a bit of furious clip-clopping as she rushes to properly catch up with Maya.]
